Sand not snow: A perfect Florida afternoon
We enjoyed such a beautiful afternoon today. It was about 70 with a good breeze and bright sun. I took our Pekingese - Dr. Porter - down to the sand and let him collect stickers in his paws until he had to be rescued and carried off to safety. Not a water dog or one to bound in and out of the surf, but extremely curious and apt to spend 5 minutes sniffing a dead fish or crab shell. What a day!

That sinking feeling
I hate it when this happens. There's nothing more upsetting and a bit sad then to come upon a sinking and apparently abandoned boat. This sailboat looks seaworthy but has obviously taken on quite a lot of water and is now grounded in the sand and grass along the shore. Is it salvageable? Probably. Does the vessel's owner care? Only time will tell. (Note, that as of this date, the mainsail covers are in place and tight and the ropelines are still coiled on the bow.)

Cocktails on the aft deck?
Imagine enjoying a cool refreshment with a significant other on the aft deck of your sailboat as the shadows grow long and the sun begins to set. That that sound like a little bit of heaven. It's been a long day and look at this scene. What could be more romantic? (What do you mean you can't swim and are deathly afraid of the water? No, those are not sharks waiting for you to dangle your toes over the side. Those are just mermaids, I mean manatees moving up the channel. And they do not bite!) If you get the urge before it's too dark we could always go out again on the wave runner. Ok. OK! We stay right here. Hey, I know. Want to watch the movie Jaws on the big screen down below?

Sailboats framed against Tampa's skyline before night fall and the rains begins to fall
It wasn't raining yet but the wind and sky were preparing for an evening downpour. It's now falling steadily and softly and may continue into the night. The tide is high, the water's surface glassy and the boats are rocking ever so gently awaiting the cooling of the darkness ahead.
